Meeting Tris - In her labratory

I waited outside Tris' labratory, because it's rude to enter a scientist's dwelling, and I needed a favor, so it is best to be polite. Waiting for Tris to come back, so I could ask about further strengthening my lightning magic. So there I sat, by the door waiting for Tris Lightningflash....

"What are you doing sitting in feont of my room?" Tris asked as she stepped from just beyond the corner. She raised a questioning eyebrow at him her emerald eyes curious.

I was startled for a second, but quickly recovered and shot to my feet. I bowed, not sure how to great a noble. "I am Koji Akantor, I aspire to be a lightning mage master, and I heard that you are a very powerful lightning mage. And I was wondering if I could be your apprentice or something. Basically I would like to learn from you, Ms LightningFlash, if you will have me as a student." I said, basically pleading.

"Stop bowing you fruitcake." She rolled her eyes. "Don't treat me like a noble. I'm a scientist." She pointed out shortly. "Yes i am strong. I have mastered my lightning. I can do things with it you probably never even dreamed of." She eyed him with a bored but puzzled expression like she wasnt quite sure what to do with someone like him. "Aren't you a little old to be needing a teacher...?"

I was taken aback my Tris' candid nature, this actually made me more relaxed. I stopped bowing and loosened up a bit, "Well, I'm not that old, I'm not even 21, besides you're never to old to learn new things. So at the very most I would like to learn under you as your apprentice or something, if you would have me. And at the very least, could you show me, some of the cool things that you do with lightning", I asked, still politely but much less formal.

"Loosed up a little more and i might think about it." Tris shoved her hands in her jean pockets. She had on an oil stained tie-dye tee shirt and oil stained jeans with holes in the knees and frayed hems down by oild stained sneakers. the only thing on her that didnt have a smudge of oil was the tie-dyed bandanna she wore over her complexly braided coppery hair. All of the tiny braids she had from the two that framed her face to the ones that networked elegantly around her scalp all converged to the big log braid behind her head. the needled at the top sparked slightly. "I wont be easy on you."

I wondered what she meant by loosen up more, I was already pretty loose, but then I grinned a grin of pure determination and said "Good because I don't like easy"

"Looking at you i can already see where you are. You live with lightning at your beck and call. You dont have a power center like i do. We'll work on that first." She kicked open her door lightly and moseyed inside.

"Huh? Beck and call? Power center? What?", I stammered after Tris in her lab. "So can you tell me what any of that means, because I'm kind of lost", I said as if Tris spoke in a different language.

"You cast lightning based spells that allow you to call lightning to you and you use it as a weapon. You need a power center. Then you dont have to have a spell to call lightning to you. You already have it inside you. Like this." Her needles in her hair sparked and then she lifted her hand and a ball of lightning appeared it was tinted orange and she hadnt casted to obtain it.

I was amazed Tris seemed to just will the lightning into being "How'd you do that! You just willed it into existence, and how is it orange? You didn't cast, how is that even possible!?!", I was excited now "I wanna be able to that"

"I have a power center. Think of it as a generator if it helps. I store the energy and i can use it whenever i feel like it. It's orange because its been inside me for so long it has fused with some of my essence. My essence is orange, like my hair." She closed her hand and the ball shrank until it vanished. "I can absorb lightning and anything very similar to it. Like electricity." She handed him a glass ball. "This is a glass orb. It's empty. But you can use it as a tool for harnessing lightning energy. It's magically enchanted to not break. But i can crack to show you you failed. Learn to contain lightning in this orb before you contain it in you. I dont want to clean up exploded limbs." She told him. "Concentrate. Like meditating but with lightning in your hand."

I took the glass orb in my hands and meditated channeling lightning into the orb, "Am I doing this, right?" I asked, trying the keep the lightning in the orb.

The orb cracked. "Not bad for a first try. You dont have much trouble maling lighning come to you. Your trouble seems to be controling its power inside the orb. Maintaining it is what keeps your limbs intact."

"Well I do like it when my limbs are intact...." I said channeling lightning into the orb again, attempting to keep it controlled. "How about now is this any better?" I ask concentrating hard.
